Matt Maeson is a singer/songwriter based out of Virginia Beach who is published through Atlantic Records. He started recording and releasing music in 2017, and has since released 2 EPs, a full length album, a “stripped” cover album, and numerous collaborations with other artists, including Lana Del Ray and Kaleo. Maeson got his start from performing at much smaller venues, and even prisons, before getting his shot and going on tour throughout the United States. Since finding individual success, Matt has started a new collaboration with friend, rapper, and producer Rozwell under the name UserX, driven by local creatives. They released their first album during lockdown with a sleuth of features, including names like Masego, Pusha T, and Manchester Orchestra, and the band is starting to get some media traction.
Who Killed Matt Maeson? was the first record that Maeson recorded and published with Atlantic Records. The EP features his most streamed song, “Cringe”, which has been his claim to fame so far, including various covers and different versions. Much of his earlier work features a basic pink and black color scheme that can often feel nostalgic for long-time fans, though recently he has switched it up to more blues and greens.
Bank on the Funeral was Maeson’s first full length studio album, released in Spring 2019. The album is a collection of some of his best singles and songs from his first EPs as well as some new songs either recorded for the album or originally performed at live shows only. The album received so much love and attention from fans, Maeson decided to re-release a “stripped” version of the album, breaking each song down to its barest form with just vocals and acoustic instruments.
